Mother May I...

"My body has taken a tiny nap from my mind"
A fallen star has landed over the rainbow and the blue bird has left with the dish and the spoon. A confusing thought has followed the proverbial Jack and Jill and with it I sit here upon this tiny hill with my back against a stone well and started thinking about the now. Not yesterday's pains or this morning's weary memory, not even the future's promises. I prop my feet up against a very old worn out wooden bucket that smells of damp spring air and stare off into the silver lining of clouds. My body has taken a tiny nap from my mind. I allow it to drift along with the warm breeze and flow through waving branches of trees, taking time to turn each leaf so the whiter under side has its occasion in the sun. Music from a blue boy fills the air and I relax even more. I smell pudding and pie with sweet honey, curds and whey. I come to realize that I am very tired. The kind of tiered where a nap in the third, just right bed will not do. I come to comprehend that it is time to stop following those three nearsighted mice and take my own path to a rhyme I can call my own.
